About
Heitor Villa-Lobos is recognized as one of the most important composers of the Americas. With its rhythmic vigor and expressive lyricism Villa-Lobos is able to create an universal language which so attracts audiences with its sheer force and expressivity. His music influenced generations of composers from Camargo Guarnieri and Tom Jobim until Edgar Varèse and Olivier Messiaen. Although his output is approximately one thousand works with more than 40 works for orchestra, 9 concerti for piano, 15 concerti for various instruments and more than 50 chamber music works, he is still quite unknown to the public at large. We know about the current audience's artistic appetite to expand the frontiers of classical European and to explore works of great artistic quality produced on other soils.
